Eco Sustainability
Tranquility is building towards net zero. Completed in 2022, the resort features the latest energy-saving engineering. We have committed to the plastic pledge (no single use plastic on property).
Constructed with an eye towards sustainability and passive energy saving, Tranquility has 75 KW of solar, solar thermal and the latest in heat pump and energy-saving engineering.
Our pools utilize electric heating and a new sterilization technology which minimizes chemicals (no chlorine or salt a.k.a. “Eco Pool”). Villa Johanna’s lap pool has a self-deploying cover to retain heat / reduce energy loss.
The villas also have massive cisterns for collecting rainwater and re-using wastewater in the gardens after bio and UV purification. The villas adhere to the “plastic pledge” and do not buy single use plastic.
We are keen composters!
We have a large organic vegetable garden using best organic practices to maintain our varied citrus and orchard trees – apples, figs, pomegranates are scattered across the botanical garden. Our olive groves have been organic for the last twenty years (indeed we believe for longer) and are hand-picked.
We are keen composters!
This year, we have installed an organic, free-range chicken coop in one of the satellite olive groves, and we are buying a few sheep and goats as well. The animals will not only entertain our smaller guests, who we anticipate will enjoy many (accompanied) visits, but should make Tranquility more self-sustainable, with locally sourced ,eggs and cheeses for our guests.
