Island of Brač
Brač Island
Notable: since Roman times, Brač has been known for its unique white stone, which was used to build not only Diocletian’s Palace (in Split) but also clads buildings like the White House and the UN HQ. While well-regarded also for its dry wines, olive oil and excellent farm produce, the island is most celebrated for the magnificent “Golden Horn” beach near the resort town of Bol, with its lively night life – just 40 minutes’ drive from Tranquility.
Activities on Brač Island
With rolling hills, a dramatic coastline and a national park – Vidova Gora with a 778 metre lookout offering stunning views is nearby — Brač has much to offer. Enjoy the island’s numerous hiking trails, bike routes and hidden coves amenable for boating or secluded swimming. Dine under the stars at one of Brac’s excellent bars, hotels and “Konobas” (restaurants); afterwards explore the island’s nightlife, outdoor movie theatres and artisanal shops.
Sea
The north coast of Brač has the largest variety of beaches on the island, all within easy reach. The beautiful fishing village of Splitska lies below Tranquility – a twenty minute downhill walk or a few minutes’ drive. To the east lies Postira, with several city beaches and a variety of restaurants. Next come Lovrencina, probably the most beautiful sandy beach on the island, ideal for children and blessed with both bar and restaurant.
On the road to Supetar, there are more beaches. Further west lies coastal Sutivan, with its huge palms and celebrated Lemon Garden Hotel (let us book you a waterside table at Brac’s best restaurant). Bol, with its famous Golden Horn beach and active night life, is a forty minute drive and unmissable.
Land
Try strolling a section of the Via Brattia, the new 135 km long circular walking and tourist trail on Brač. The Via, just finished, connects the 12 most attractive historical sites and the most picturesque locations of Central Dalmatia’s largest island. In addition to hiking and running, Brač is a biker’s paradise. The villas come with four cycles for our guests. Additional trailbikes, ebikes and hybrids can be arranged.
For those more inclined for powered adventures, scooters, quad bikes and other vehicles are available for rent in nearby Supetar; delivery to the villas can be arranged.
Excursions
Choose between the island’s 20 charming towns and many hotels, restaurants and shops; Brač offers diversions for all tastes. The whole island is within easy reach of Tranquility – the national park at Vdova Gora (Widow’s Peak), the quarries and stone-carving town of Pusica and the resort of Bol are all a short drive away. Close to home, the Brač Museum and Olive Oil museum are only a short walk and the bustling port of Supetar is nearby. Ask our staff!
If you are feeling more adventurous, you can head to Hvar and the Pakleni Islands, just to the south of Brač or grab a water taxi from Supetar and in 15 minutes you can be on the Riviera in front of Diocletian’s Palace in Split (all these destinations are also accessible by ferry).
